27TH APRIL. ‘Cast Away’ by Sakura Murakami is a unique, instantly recognisable track that brings together a world of interesting influences. The trio have crafted their own very individual psychedelic sound that blends huge, reverb-soaked wah-laden guitar work with reggae influences and a sense of groove that transports you to a tropical beach at sunset. You can feel an instant connection to the likes of Khurangbin and Los Bitchos. The band have a unique approach to songwriting. “All the tracks are felt out on the spot, in a sort of duel writing and recording process that runs side by side in the same moment until the song is finished.
